Test cricket is known for the tough mental and physical demands it puts on players. Over the years, Indian cricketers have produced some truly memorable performances built on patience, focus, and skill. One of the biggest individual achievements in this format is scoring a double century — a sign of control and determination. Legendary figures like Sachin Tendulkar, with his unmatched consistency, and Virat Kohli, known for hunger and flair, have led the way for others to follow. From past icons to present-day stars, several Indian batters have gone past the 200-run mark, each knock leaving a lasting impact on the game’s rich history.
Shubhman Gill’s double century in Edgbaston Test
The latest entrant to the list is Indian skipper Shubman Gill, who scored a scintillating double century against England at Edgbaston. The 25-year-old etched his name in the history books by becoming only the fifth player in the game’s history to register double hundreds in both ODIs and Tests. In his outstanding knock of 269 runs off 387 balls, which includes 30 fours and 3 sixes Gill displayed remarkable composure, temperament, and shot selection — a perfect blend of patience and flair. His innings not only showcased his growing maturity as a batter but also placed India in a commanding position in the second Test.
