Aadhar cards for children are being made free of cost.

According to the Patna District Education Office, 16,134 children’s Aadhar cards were made in the past month.

Starting now, schools will require the submission of Aadhar cards and bank account details for children at the time of admission. It applies to both private and government schools in Patna, from class 1 to 12. Children without an Aadhar card or bank account cannot access government schemes. To facilitate, camps will be organised to create Aadhar cards for students.

According to the District Education Office, 16,134 children’s Aadhar cards were made in the past month. There are 46 centres in the district dedicated to creating Aadhar cards for children, with 27 centres currently active. The goal is to have two Aadhar centres in each block of the district.

Linking the Aadhar card to a bank account is essential for students in government schools to benefit from various schemes. When uploading children’s data on the MIS portal, complete information on their Aadhar card and bank account must be included.

Aadhar cards for children without them are being made free of cost. If there are errors in existing Aadhar cards, parents will need to pay a fee of Rs 50 to Rs 100 for corrections. The District Education Office has received complaints about operators charging parents for creating Aadhar cards. Therefore, school headmasters have been instructed to oversee the process and report any demands for money to the responsible officers.

Uploading all details of the Aadhar card and bank account ensures that funds from any scheme will be directly deposited into the children’s bank accounts. This process allows children to directly benefit from government schemes, including those for bicycles, dresses, napkins, and scholarships. Consequently, at the time of school admission, children must provide their Aadhar card, bank passbook, photo, and other necessary information.

This new requirement aims to streamline the delivery of government benefits directly to students, ensuring transparency and efficiency. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of students and ensuring that they receive the support they need to continue their education.

By mandating Aadhar and bank details, the government seeks to eliminate fraud and ensure that the benefits reach the intended recipients. This process is a significant step towards integrating digital identification with educational and welfare systems, ultimately aiming to provide better opportunities for the students of the district.
